Pssst! Your blog has NO Personality. Sorry.

So I spend too much time on the interwebs. Way too much.

And yes, much of that  time is spent reading  lots of other ‘make money online’ blogs. But here’s the problem. Many of these blogs are truly, deeply, maddeningly…boring.

Let me explain:

There are only 2 things that you need to do to make money online (MMO).

Here they are:

  1. Find something truly amazing (that costs money)
  2. Promote the hell out of it (and get paid)

Everybody knows this by now and anybody can talk / blog about this.

In fact they do! But here’s the thing. 99.9% of MMO blogs seem to have endless ‘how to’ articles. And not much else.

Now I know that ‘How to…’ is a great title for an article that’s designed to pull in readers. But do we really need another ‘how to do this’ or ‘how to do that’ or ‘6 ways to do this’ or ‘4 fast ways to do that’?

What I would like to see more of is peoples personal experience of exactly what they are up to online.

What their thoughts are. What their fears are. What they hate about business online. What they find ecstatic.

I don’t know about you but I spend a good deal of my time thinking: advertising. Marketing. Promotion. I’m always looking for ways to improve and out-perform myself, grow my skills. I write about this.

Sometimes I get really lucky – and  I write about this. I bought into an advertising co-op and spent nearly a grand. I wrote about this.

Share some real and true experiences. Make it personal, make it life-like and make it interesting. This is what made real blogging much more powerful in the bad old days.

So here’s my challenge to you if you are a ‘blogger’. Or you Blog. Or would like to. For your next post,

Instead of using a title that begins ‘How to…’ try one that begins ‘How I…’

I’ll stop talking now. Keeping it real and personal…

me.
